Learning to Code as a Path to Innovation

In today’s digital age, the ability to code has become more than just a technical skill; it’s a key to unlocking creativity and innovation, especially for primary school teachers. As Enda Kenny once said, “Learning to code is learning to create and innovate.” This statement captures the essence of what coding can bring to the classroom.

This trick doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it honestly saves so much time!

If you think about all those times you’ve had to explain to students how to make a copy of a doc or slide before they edit it, only to have them either edit the file or ask you how to do it again.

So, this is a quick tip that you can do to save all that hassle. It forces students to make a copy of the file before they can even look at it!

1 Open up the Google Document, Slide, or Sheet that you want your students to make a copy of.

2 Click the share button at the top right of your screen.

3 You’ll see this pop up show. But don’t worry – you don’t need to do anything here.

4 Head to the top of your screen and look at your address bar.

5 Look for the / that comes right before the word ‘edit’ and delete everything that comes after. Then write the word ‘copy’.

6 Now, don’t press enter! Instead, select that whole line and paste t where your students can see it. That’s the line they will click and will take them to a page that forces them to copy your file before they can see it.

That’s it, easy as that!
Hope you find this tutorial simple and easy to follow!

Enjoy!
