A Brief Blurb

After a thorough consultation period, the new digital technologies curriculum was released at the end of 2017. From there, schools and kura were given two years to prepare and become comfortable with the digital curriculum before it would become compulsory in 2020.

Well, that ship has sailed and there are still some of us teachers who feel uneasy about teaching the digital curriculum. There are others who, after a few lockdowns and the introduction of online learning, are more at ease with bringing digital devices into the classroom, but are unsure if this covers the digital curriculum.

This has been beneficial for our kura. Especially when we look at how quickly we have had to adapt to online learning. It has shown us that as teachers we are still flexible and adaptive when it comes to the process of learning, and that we are reflective and open to how we can improve.

However, while this is a good start, we have a long way to go before we adequately prepare our students for the future workforce. Hopefully, that is done through unpacking and implementing the digital curriculum.

Our aim for this course is for it to become a resource that you can continually come back to. Refresh your understanding, build on from your knowledge, and grow in your journey of implementing the digital curriculum.
